Drake’s Nokia Music Video

Drake’s Nokia Music Video

The song of the season! Bringing us that nostalgic feel with old school hip hop vibes, and of course a shout out to the Nokia cellphone from the early 2000s.

Renowned photographer and Toronto’s very own Tanisha Scott choreographed the amazingly crafted dance sequences throughout, combining elements of hip hop, dancehall and soca inspired moves all in black and white.

The video also features dancers from Toronto’s Kode Red dance team, “A performance-based dance company centred around female empowerment & creating a safe space for women in the industry to express themselves. This video holds the title of being the first music video shot in IMAX, but the lesser known accolade is it highlighting Toronto’s Caribbean culture that has so heavily influenced the city.

The video takes us back to what feels like the Caribana of our past, and includes landmarks like the CN Tower, and the iconic twin condos notably located in Mississauga. Giving us throwback sound vibes, even without the video; the song’s beat changes, lyrics and speakerbox effects makes it for a mesmerizing listen.
